When I emigrated from Italy in the late 1950s, the Australian café industry was still in the early stages of development. I started Rio Coffee in 1964 with a small roaster and a Volkswagen van; blending, roasting and learning on a day-to-day basis. My passion was in offering hand-roasted, specialty coffee and I proudly delivered the fresh beans to my friends around the city. Years of dedication, focus and an unshakable self-belief have made Rio Coffee an industry leader and one of the catalysts behind Australia’s ever-growing passion for coffee.
While a few things have changed since 1964, both our passion for coffee and our loyalty to old-style traditions have remained at the heart of our work ethic. We’re now proud to offer 14 blended and single origin coffees, all produced in accordance with artisan hand-roasting practices. Our portfolio includes five signature blends alongside unsurpassable estate, organic and Fairtrade coffees from all over the world. Bold South Americans, sweet Indonesians, mellow Mexicans, fruity Ethiopians, unique Australians ... our Arabica grade, single origin coffees are sourced from the best plantations on the planet. Varied and distinctive, each variety presents with flavours and characteristics as diverse as its origin.
